Introduction to Game Shooting
This section of our Sporting-Dreams experience is a short course designed to allow the novice to game bird shooting (or even a clay shooter who wants to try something new) to feel confident enough to accept that driven pheasant or partridge shoot invitation. My years of organising shooting and shoot days have led to me realise that there are a lot of people out there who would like to get involved in game bird shooting but don't know enough or are reluctant to ask their host about the etiquette involved in game shooting. This short course aims to address those shortfalls.

The course will cover such areas as: safety in the field, dress code, gun and cartridge choice, individual shot selection (to avoid the embarrassment of shooting someone else's bird), and the intricacies of a beating line. It will also cover the duties of a back, flank and walking gun.

This one and a half day course will include presentations on the above followed by a chance to practice simulated driven shooting within a team. It will also allow you to check your shot selection and safety whilst your adrenalin is running within a friendly, controlled and safe environment. This will be followed on the second day by the chance to put your newfound knowledge into action when you will participate in an actual driven partridge or pheasant shoot. At all times your performance will be observed and feedback will be given which will allow you to adjust your actions accordingly.
